A (Re)Introduction

I'm Percy Kildare, I'm a historian and author, and at the time of writing this I'm 22 years old. I usually dress very alt. I make art, I'm an occasional contributor to the SCP Wiki, and I stream RPGs on an inconsistent schedule. Online, I usually represent myself with a drawing of a unicorn character you've probably seen around this site.

That's reintroductions taken care of.

I chose to use a pen name instead of my usual preferred work name for a variety of reasons. First off, my actual last name is extremely distinctive, and I've never really used it online in any capacity, since it's not difficult to track me irl and to come across my much younger siblings in the process. Probably more relevant, though, is the fact that it's long and not terribly easy to spell, and I wanted to go for something phonetic and catchy.

There wasn't much doubt that I would use Percy as my first name, as opposed to the bulkier Percival, but the surname took me a bit longer. Kildare is from a name element of my Confirmation saint, Brigid of Kildare, one of those fascinating saints who are heavily influenced by early syncretism between local religion and historical figures. St. Brigid in particular has a really wide assortment of associated myths, due to having absorbed a good deal of the mythology of the goddess of the same name. She doesn't have a formal last name, but I went with the place-name convention.

I'm in the process of changing my twitter info, and considering putting together alternate accounts on a few other sites. Overall, I'm really excited to start being able to officially use this name, and I'm very proud of it!
